Creep is one of the major causes of a tailing loop. Creep usually happens during the pause after the back cast. The movement of your hand leads the rod tip to move forward or creep forward before the line has straightened behind you. This decreases your casting arc which now is too small for the bend in the rod (see earlier post).

The simplest advice I have is “look at your backcast”. The visual cue to start the forward cast is when the line is straight, but the leader is not.

Just wait, and watch do NOT MOVE the rod at all until the line is in the NOW configuration will cure your creep.
