The key to avoiding a tailing loop is to make sure that the rod tip travels in a straight line. For a rod tip straight line, we necessarily must bend the rod. That bend is dictated by our carry (line outside the tip) and the force we use by moving the rod. We start from a standstill and accelerate smoothly to an abrupt stop. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of being smooth.
